When Key Financial Solutions, LLC began two years ago, president Roger Streit ’66 had a clear agenda — to provide everyone, not just those who meet certain income, investment, or net worth requirements, with objective financial planning services and investment advice on an hourly, as-needed basis.

“I believe fee-only advisers can give the most objective advice,” he says. “Planners who receive commissions may be nice and intelligent, but your livelihood should not depend on your making a sale.”

An economics graduate, Streit earned his MBA in finance and accounting from University of Rochester, then began his career with the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. He held positions in corporate finance for large international companies, working on cash management, budgeting, planning, financing alternatives, and risk management.

Ten years after graduating from Lafayette, Streit became an entrepreneur and a consultant. He has started companies and helped other small business owners with financial and growth strategies.

“I received a really good education at Lafayette,” he says, adding that he is grateful to one of his professors for encouraging him to apply to the University of Rochester, which “hadn’t even been on my radar.”

He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Garrett Planning Network, a nationwide association of professional fee-only financial advisers.
