The Alphi Phi sorority is offering the chance to win “A Trip to Anywhere” through a benefit raffle for cardiac care.

Raffle tickets are available for $5 each from an Alpha Phi sister anytime and at a table in the Farinon Center during lunchtime from Feb. 28-March 3. One ticket will be drawn in Farinon after sales conclude Friday, March 3. The winner will receive a $500 voucher that can be redeemed for a plane ticket to any destination.

All proceeds will go to The Alpha Phi Foundation, which raises money to support cardiac care. Last year Lafayette’s Alpha Phi chapter raised $1,490 through the event, which is being organized this year by neuroscience major Karolyn Kopcza ’07 (Moscow, Pa.), Alpha Phi’s vice president of marketing, and international affairs and Spanish double major Martha Petre ’08 (Chautauqua, N.Y.), director of philanthropy.

Other Alpha Phi charity fundraisers this school year have included a powder puff football tournament and a Lafayette-Lehigh football T-shirt sale. A charity car wash is planned for the end of the semester.

“We enjoy supporting the Alpha Phi Foundation because cardiac care is an often overlooked problem for women,” says psychology major Allie Minieri ’07 (East Brunswick, N.J.), sorority president. “The fundraising efforts not only raise money for the cause, but also make those that support it aware of possible cardiac issues.”
