William F. Hart ’27, professor emeritus ofchemistry and department head from 1957-69, died April 12 in Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. Hart taught chemistry at Lafayette for 35 years.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at First Presbyterian Church of Easton, 333 Spring Garden Street; (610) 253-3579. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, where Hart served as an elder.

He is survived by a daughter, Caryl E. VonNeida and her husband Allyn of Summit, N.J.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His first wife, the former Helen Lentz, died in 1944. His second wife, the former Hilda Schug, died in 1992.

Hart and a fellow centenarian, Robert E. Tinsman Sr. ’27, were featured in a February article on Lafayette’s web site.
