Live bands, food, games, a midnight breakfast, and a variety of other activities will be part of All College Day this year.

Events will take place 12-4:30 p.m. May 6 on March Field. All Lafayette students will receive free wristbands for entry. Guests of Lafayette students may purchase wristbands for $5.

“All College Day is a longstanding tradition at Lafayette,” says Lauren Ackerman, assistant director of student life programs. “It’s a great day for students to come together one last time before finals and summer break, which helps to strengthen our community. And the midnight breakfast is a wonderful event because it brings together students and faculty in an environment in which the two groups do not normally participate together.”

Festivities will begin with a live set by American Standard, a student cover band from University of Maryland from 12-1 p.m. PovertyNeck Hillbillies, a country band that performs covers and original material, will take the stage 1:30-2:30 p.m. Live entertainment will conclude with Anthem, a reggae band that performs covers and original material, 3-4:30 p.m.

March Field also will be the site of a mechanical bull, obstacle course, bungee run, and caricature artist. Food will be available all day.

The midnight breakfast for students and faculty will be 11 p.m.-1 a.m. in Farinon Center (upstairs).

Student organizers for this year’s event include American studies major Kelly Barrows ’06 (Waverly, Pa.), current Lafayette Activities Forum (LAF) executive chair; English major Kim Nieskens ’07 (East Northport, N.Y.), LAF executive chair for 2006-07; international affairs major Amanda Niederauer ’08(Bernardsville, N.J.), president of Student Government; electrical and computer engineering major David Young ’08 (Bensalem, Pa.), WJRH; Jess Roberts ’09 (Staten Island, N.Y.), Residence Hall Council; and psychology major Christine Burke ’07 (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), president of Panhellenic Council.

“I want to thank the students who have worked so hard to help plan All College Day,” says Ackerman. “They really want to make this a great event for their fellow students.”

All College Day is sponsored by Lafayette Activities Forum, Student Government, Residence Hall Council, the Office of the Dean of Students, the Office of Residence Life and Student Life Programs, and Recreation Services.
