The New York Times features Lafayette in an article in today’s Education Life section.

The story, “It Takes Muscle,” explores students’ responses to the challenge of maintaining high grades while competing in Division I intercollegiate athletics. It focuses on sports that don’t have the high profile of football or basketball but require the same amount of dedication and time.

Meredith Cohen ’07 (Abington, Pa.), an English and French double major, and Autumn Karwiel ’07 (Melrose, N.Y.), a biology major, are track and field team members who were interviewed for the story.

“On the last day of classes, Meredith Cohen is five hours east of Lafayette College, in Room 307 of the Comfort Inn in Worcester, Mass., doing two things most would consider antithetical,” the article begins. “She is trying to relax and get hydrated before running the 400 meter in the Patriot League Track and Field Championships — and she is headed full-throttle into finals week, banging out the first of five papers and a written summary of a college internship experience.”
