The members of the Class of 2010 and their families accepted the help of over 200 Lafayette student-athletes and members of all 12 fraternities and sororities Friday morning during an overcast move-in day. The helpers provided some extra aid, relieving some of the stress and heavy lifting normally associated with moving into a college dorm.

Student-athletes from seven of Lafayette’s fall varsity sports joined the Greek students in the event, hauling everything from refrigerators and televisions to bedding and books.

This marks the seventh straight year the student-athletes volunteered their mornings to help the incoming freshmen. The College’s Office of Student Residence and the Lafayette football program started the tradition in August 1999.

Teams that donated their time and energy included football, volleyball, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and cheerleading. Each athlete was designated an area and time slot on campus and student-athletes wore shirts to identify themselves as part of the move-in staff.
