At 1:44 p.m., the Office of Public Safety received a report of fire coming from a clothes dryer in room 414 of SouthCollege.

Students were evacuated and the Easton Fire Department arrived on the scene. The fire was put out with a hallway fire extinguisher, which has been replaced, and the building was ventilated with smoke extraction equipment.

The cause of the fire was due to an overload of clothing and the dryer being too close to the wall, bending the exhaust vent. The dryer was burnt beyond repair and needs to be replaced. The clothing was also destroyed. There was no other damage or danger to students.

At 2:26 p.m. students were allowed back into the building.
