The upcoming, October edition of Men’s Fitness, has ranked Lafayette 17th in the nation on the magazine’s list of “Fittest Colleges.”

In the second year of the “Nation’s 25 Fittest Colleges” list, Men’s Fitness surveyed some 12,500 students from the country’s top institutions.

Each school received a “fitness report card” based on student responses to the 17 questions on the survey broken down into “student” and “school” fitness factors. The student factor questions focused on frequency of consumption of fast-food, alcohol, and cigarettes; amount of vigorous physical activity performed each week; amount of hours spent sedentary each week; and how many hours spent sleeping at night.

School factor questions looked at the availability of fresh fruit, nutritionists, and extended gym hours on campus; physical fitness requirements; and how fit students feel their campus is in general.
