This month’s health professions meeting will feature representatives from the U.S. Army who will discuss its Health Professions Scholarship Program noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 in Oechsle Lecture Hall room 224.

Students interested in attending the meeting must RSVP by Monday, Oct. 23 to June Thompson, coordinator of scholars and health professions programs, at x5521 or email. A pizza lunch will be provided.

Captain Erica R. DiJoseph of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command and Colonel Koji D. Nishimura, M.D. of the U.S. Army Medical Corps will be on hand to discuss healthcare professions in the armed forces. DiJoseph will speak on the basic elements of the Health Professions Scholarship Program, advanced medical training, and opportunities for practicing medicine in the Army. Nishimura will discuss medical school tuition, a monthly stipend provided by the Army, and his personal experiences pursuing a medical career.

Lafayette’s Health Professions program prepares students to be competitive applicants for medical and dental schools. Past students in the Health Professions program who have gone on to pursue healthcare careers in the military include biology graduates Kristen Koenig ’04 and Marissa Bauck ’02,both students at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
