The College Hill Neighborhood Association offers a look at the historic past of Easton with the fifth annual Holly Trolley Tours Saturday, Dec.1-Sunday, Dec. 2. The 50-minute tours begin at 2:10 p.m. daily.

Tours depart from the Simon Mansion, the home of Third Street Alliance, 41 North Third Street, Easton. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Lafayette Inn. For tickets, call (610) 253-4500.

Bringing people together to celebrate the holiday season and the history of Easton, each tour will be led by a knowledgeable narrator and includes stops at many historical destinations in the city. The narrators are members of the community who enjoy sharing Easton’s rich history and will be dressed in Victorian costumes.

Each hour, there is a choice of two tours. One tour will feature a stop at the Lafayette Inn, where Richard F. Hope, author and storyteller, will entertain with the history of Santa Claus. The second tour will stop at the Chipman English Manor, designed by famous Easton architect William Marsh Michler as a wedding present for his daughter.

The last two tours each day will depart at 7:10 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., and will feature a special script for adults only depicting stories of Easton’s colorful past.

“The tours have become an integral part of the Easton community’s holiday season, with tour goers coming back year after year,” says Phyllis Johnson of the Holly Trolley Tour committee. “Each of the five years has been staged in different locations, and the tours offer something new each year.”

Tours also include visits and photos with Santa and his elves, refreshments, and live entertainment.

The Holly Trolley Tours are sponsored by Lafayette College, Lafayette Inn, Kennon Surveying Services, Inc., and Express-Times.
