College Orchestra will present its fall concert 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 in the Williams Center for the Arts auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public.

Under the direction of Stephani Bell, the orchestra will perform classical selections and feature one faculty and three student musicians.

The orchestra’s rendition of Bach’s “Orchestral Suite in B minor” will feature Susan Charlton, director of the chamber wind ensemble. The performance of Corelli’s “Christmas Cantata” will feature Teruhisa Haruguchi ’07(Saitamashi, Japan), who is pursuing a B.S. computer science and A.B. with a major in mathematics, on violin one; Xin Wu ’08 (Easton, Pa.), a mathematics and economics & business double major, on violin two; and Adel Lomibao ’08 (Easton, Pa.), a mathematics and chemistry double major, on cello. The orchestra also will perform Eugene Ormandy’s “Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

Bell is looking forward to giving the orchestra an opportunity to share its hard work and enthusiasm for music with the community.

“Music transcends boundaries,” she says. “It is a way to speak without words – speaking with one’s heart and soul. The Lafayette Orchestra has worked hard as a group this year to put on this upcoming concert, and is a very dedicated, eclectic group of musicians.”
