Farmer’s Market sponsors creative tomato art contest

Downtown Easton is expecting some ripe, red-faced, and highly entertaining guests on Saturday, Aug. 25.

The Easton Farmer’s Market in Center Square and the Easton Main Street Initiative are sponsoring a “Mr. and Mrs. Tomato Head Contest.” Participants must tap into their creative juices and transform a pair of ordinary tomatoes into “tomato people.” Each “tomato couple” must include a man and a women tomato figure. No rotten tomatoes are permitted.

Registration lasts from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Center Square and the contest will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded by market patrons for cutest tomato couple, hottest tomato couple, and there will be a separate category for children’s entries. All of the Mr. and Mrs. Tomato Heads will be on display until noon and winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m.

For more information, contact Megan McBride at the Easton Main Street Initiative at 610-330-9942.

Easton’s Main Street Initiative is dedicated to preserving, nurturing and celebrating the heritage, history, attractiveness, and community of downtown Easton. Their vision is maintained through the active partnership between local governments, businesses, educational institutions, non-profit community based organizations, and the residents of Easton. They hope to revitalize Easton into a place of greater economic opportunity, creative endeavors, and community vitality.
