Council of Lafayette Women will hold biannual conference April 4-5, 2008

The Council of Lafayette Women will host its biannual spring conference April 4-5, 2008, for all women in the Lafayette community — alumnae, parents, students, faculty, and staff.

“The conference gives us an opportunity to reconnect with one another and to get back on campus. We’ve found most women don’t normally take the time to do that because of the way their lives are going or because they’re more aligned with their husbands’ college experience,” says Diane Jackaki ’86 CLW chair. “We offer a number of different paths to experience college again.”

Those paths include talks by Lafayette professors on their areas of expertise, which are complemented by sessions on health, personal development, and career topics, as well as other areas addressed by alumnae and others.

“To step back into the classroom experience has been magical for women who have never stopped wanting to learn, but rarely get the chance to be in a situation where they are learning for the love of it,” says Jakacki. “What’s also really great is that professors and their former students have the opportunity to get reacquainted.”

Jakacki is working with Mary Pat Staats, CLW director and associate director of alumni affairs, and others in planning the conference. Additional input is welcome.

Conference updates will be posted on the alumni web site
