All students interested in the health professions are invited to attend

Lafayette’s Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) invites all students that plan to apply to a health professions school or have an interest in osteopathic medicine to attend a talk presented by Richard Tancer ’79, doctor of osteopathic medicine.

The talk will take place noon, Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Hugel Science Center room 100. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to June Thompson, coordinator of scholars and health professions programs, by Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Tancer will discuss osteopathic medicine, the similarities and differences in perspective between a D.O. (osteopathic physician) and a M.D. (allopathic physician) and key concerns of 21st century medicine.

Tancer graduated from Lafayette with a degree in biology in 1979 and from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984. Tancer has experience in educational, societal, and practicing aspects of medicine. Among many other achievements, he served clinical professor appointments at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine; the UMDNJ School of Osteopathic Medicine; and as the clinical preceptor for the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

He has been the president of the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He currently holds full attending privileges at Holy Name Hospital and is sole proprietor of the Family Medical Group in Little Ferry, N.J.

Those who are unable to attend the lecture, but would like to be placed on HPAC’s email list to be notified about future events, should email Julia A. Goldberg, associate dean of the College.
