Various performances will take place over the next two weeks

The music department’s various ensembles will be presenting their spring performances over the next two weeks. All concerts are free and open to the public.

The performances will be: Concert Choir and Chamber Singers at 5 p.m. April 26, Orchestra with Pesky Artist-in-Residence Elizabeth Field at 3 p.m. April 27, Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m. May 2, Concert Band at 8 p.m. May 3, and Jazz Combo at 7:30 p.m. May 5. All concerts are held on main stage of the Williams Center for the Arts except Jazz Combo, which will be in room 123.

The program for the choir performance will include Requiem by Faur� and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.3 in C minor. Beethoven’s piece will feature Shin Hwang ’10 (Ann Arbor, Mich.) on piano. The choirs are under the direction of Jennifer Kelly, assistant professor of music.

The Orchestra will perform The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi. Elizabeth Field, the Alan & Wendy Pesky Artist in Residence, will perform on violin. The orchestra is under the direction of Stephani Bell. Art major Peter Huntley ’08 (Westport, Conn.) designed and built a set entirely out of old records for the performance.

The Jazz Ensemble will perform a program of traditional and contemporary jazz styles. Jazz Combo will perform a number of original student compositions and arrangements. The Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of Ken Brader, and the Jazz Combo is directed by Tom DiCarlo, visiting part-time instructor of music.

The Concert Band will present the music of Gustav Holst, Clifton Williams, Claude T. Smith, Nicholas Rimsky – Korsakov, Gaetano Donizetti, and Gioacchino Rossini. Also featured will be a recent work by Bethlehem native, Steven Reisteter. The band is directed by James Moyer, associate professor of music.
