She is managing partner of Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute

As managing partner of the Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute (AGI), a global consulting firm headquartered in New Haven, Conn., Dee Bradbury Jacob ’74 helps companies take their results to the next level.

“The most rewarding part for me is when we work with clients directly and really see breakthrough success, not only in the bottom line but also in the work life of the employees,” she says.

Jacob, who has been with AGI for 17 years, is responsible for creating and leading the firm’s strategic direction, including new product and service development, business growth plans, and leadership development. AGI provides solutions in strategic planning, project management, supply chains, market demand-pull, production, and day-to-day problem solving.

When she began her career in operations at Procter & Gamble, Jacob quickly found her niche in applying the theory of constraints, a management philosophy introduced by Eliyahu M. Goldratt.

“I liked that it offered great common-sense approaches to real-world problems,” she explains.

Her undergraduate years at Lafayette taught her how to keep many plates spinning effectively.

“Lafayette allowed me to take on different challenges in both academics and co-curricular activities,” she says. “I had to handle balancing many objectives at the same time.”

The government and law graduate picked up skills that have served her as she has progressed through her career.

“In general, all of my professors, and even the deans, put a lot of time and energy into mentoring me as an individual,” she says. “They treated everyone as an individual and that caring concern was a good model to take in as I began managing people in my career.”

A former member of the Board of Trustees, Jacob is a very active member of the Lafayette community. She is a past president of the Maroon Club and Alumni Association and was involved in the strategic planning process. She is treasurer of The Graduates, an alumni choral group. She also is a Posse Pard-ner, in which alumni “adopt” a student in the Posse Program.
