J.B. Reilly ’83 and Sylvia Daniels Weaver ’75 were elected May 23 and will begin five-year terms July 1

J.B. Reilly ’83 and Sylvia Daniels Weaver ’75 were elected to the Board of Trustees May 23 and will begin five-year terms July 1. Reilly is a founding partner and chief executive officer of Landmark Communities real estate development firm in Bethlehem. Weaver is a vice president at Information Technology Services, a division of Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc. located in Raritan, N.J.

Retiring trustee Riley K. Temple ’71, the vice chair of the Board, was elected to emeritus status. Temple recently founded Temple Strategies, a telecommunications consulting firm based. Prior to that, he was a partner in the telecommunications law firm of Halprin Temple, which he founded in 1993. Alan R. Griffith ’64, chair of the board, recognized Temple at the 173rd Commencement May 24.

Also leaving the board is E. Mimi MacLean ’93, founder of Savvy Stitch LLC, who is concluding a five-year term as alumni trustee. Nancy Brennan Lund ’74, senior vice president of marketing for Philip Morris U.S.A., will succeed Temple as vice-chair.

Reilly is a founding partner of Landmark Communities and Traditions of America. Both companies are involved with residential development and home building in the Lehigh Valley and throughout most of Pennsylvania.

Reilly has over 25 years of experience in real estate development, land planning, finance, management, and law. His career includes the successful development of lifestyle communities, garden apartments, urban redevelopment, and historic high-rise properties. Traditions of America has been recognized for excellence on numerous occasions, including the National Association of Home Builders 50+ Housing Council “Best of Seniors” Housing Awards.

Raised in Allentown, Reilly received an A.B. in economics and business from Lafayette in 1983 and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He has been a CPA and a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 1987.

He resides in Bethlehem with his wife, Kathleen, and their three children. He served as an alumni associate member of the Board of Trustees’ External Affairs Committee from 2003 to 2005.

Reilly is a member of the Board of Trustees of Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network, Inc., where he serves as vice chair. He is a member of DeSales University’s Board of Trustees, where he serves as chair of the Audit Committee. He is past president of the YMCA Board of Directors and former member of the Board of Trustees of the United Way of the Lehigh Valley. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation and the Allentown Economic Development Corporation.

Weaver, of Belle Mead, N.J., was most recently responsible for quality and compliance and led Johnson & Johnson’s Six Sigma program, delivering significant benefits in effectiveness and efficiency. Computerworld magazine featured her and other highly successful businesswomen in a discussion about the environment for women in information technology.

Weaver was among Lafayette’s first women students, a member of just the second class of women to matriculate. She received a B.A. in English from Lafayette in 1975 and an M.S. in telecommunications and computing management from Polytechnic University.

A member of the Lafayette Leadership Council, Weaver has been generous in sharing her expertise with Lafayette students. The recipient of the 2006 Lois and Neil Gagnon Award for assisting students in career exploration, she was the featured speaker during Career Services’ inaugural “Get Your Career in Gear” week to prepare students for success at the annual on-campus career fair.

In 1990, she received the Clifton P. Mayfield ’09 Outstanding Young Alumni Award, which recognized her contributions in “helping make Lafayette College a more diverse and inclusive community.” She is co-founder of the Association of Black Collegians Graduate Chapter and hosted the first meetings of the group.

She served as an alumni associate member of the Board of Trustees’ Committee on Financial Policy from 1992-1994. She was also a member of the Alumni Affairs Presidential Transition Team from 2005-2006 and the Alumni Council Executive Committee from 2001-2005.

Her husband is George S. Weaver ’72 and her daughters are Stephanie ’03 and Danielle ’07. The Weavers are one of the few “legacy” families in which every individual is a Lafayette graduate.
