An article and video appeared in the Morning Call Sept. 21, focusing on a new sculpture, “Transcendence,” which commemorates David Kearney McDonogh 1844, the College’s first black graduate. McDonogh was a slave when he was sent from Louisiana by his owner in 1838.
The sculpture, which was created by internationally renowned sculptor Melvin Edwards, will be dedicated during a ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 on the north side of Skillman Library.
