What attracted you to Lafayette?

Lafayette has a great science program and beautiful facilities. As a small, undergraduate institution, there are many opportunities to get involved in research and work in close collaboration with your professors. I liked the small class sizes and close interactions with faculty. Also I wanted to experience the East Coast, and Lafayette is conveniently located near both Philadelphia and New York City, both of which I visit often. Lafayette’s Division 1 sports program also brings a great sense of school pride.

Tell us about some of your most fascinating Lafayette experiences.

Studying in Italy is my favorite experience thus far. It was great to really experience the culture and art that surrounded me. Also, last year I went on an Alternative School Break trip to Chicago, where we worked with inner-city youth. It was a great experience and really opened my eyes to the social and economic situations present in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Also, my experiences with club sports (lacrosse, running, and crew) have been great.

Your favorite courses and professors?

My favorite courses have been two art history classes. The teachers are so passionate, and the art and architecture that are covered in the courses are interesting. My favorite professors have been Professors Sinkevic and Ahl (art history) for their passion and superior knowledge of art history. They are also very helpful and really show a genuine interest in their students. Also, Professors Miles and Nataro in the chemistry department are great at teaching and really challenge their students on tests and in class.

I have done two interims and one summer of EXCEL research and one semester on an independent study with Professor Sherma in the chemistry department. So far I have published two papers with him, and four are in process.
