Cast of his fourth Broadway production includes Valerie Harper

Brian Hutchison ’93 will costar on Broadway with acclaimed actress Valerie Harper and Michael Mulheren in Looped, a new comedy about actress Tallulah Bankhead. The production will begin previews Feb. 19 at the Lyceum Theatre, with an opening set for March 14.

Looped takes place in a sound studio in 1965 to which Bankhead has been summoned to re-record (or “loop”) one line of dialogue for what would be her last film, Die, Die My Darling. Bankhead arrives for the session inebriated and given this, as well as her inability to loop the line perfectly, a showdown between an uptight and conservative sound editor, Danny Miller (played by Hutchison), and the outrageous legend ensues.

Hutchison’s Broadway credits include Exit the King, The Invention of Love, and Proof. Off-Broadway credits include From Up Here, Oh The Humanity, Mr. Marmalade, People Be Heard, Indoor/Outdoor, The Hiding Place, Theophilus North, Can’t Let Go, and She Stoops to Conquer. He has had film and TV roles in Love and Other Drugs, Ghostown, Dealbreaker, Hope & Faith, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: CI.

The English graduate acted in Lafayette’s College Theater as a student. His brother, Chris ’91, also is an accomplished actor.

A Broadway veteran, Harper is best known for playing Rhoda Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda, which earned four Emmys, a Golden Globe, Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year award, and the Hollywood Women’s Press Club Golden Apple Award.
