Finishing first in the 20th annual event were math majors Chencong Bao ’11 (Shanghai, China), Jiaqi Li ’12 (Jing Zhou, China), and Peiyuan Mao ’11 (Yangzhou Jiangsu Province, China), who is also majoring in physics.

In second place were math majors Jorge Sawyer ’10 (Lodi, N.J.), Katie Sokolowsky ’10 (Downingtown, Pa.), and Xing Yan ’10 (Nanjing, China). The third place team was Mohan Ru ’13 (Shaanxi, Singapore), Chao Wang ’13 (Shi Changchun, China), and Liang Zhang ’13 (Shandong, China).

The contest consists of a three-hour test where students need to work together as a team to solve the problems. Lafayette’s three teams will be awarded prizes at the Moravian Student Mathematics Conference on Feb. 20.
