Soccer player Luke Calvano ’12 (Eastampton, N.J.) has been selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.

Calvano, a double major in policy studies and economics & business, maintains a 3.71 grade-point average. He is a three-time member of the dean’s list and a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll selection.

He is a member of the College’s Economic Empowerment and Global Learning Project. For the past three years, the team has collaborated with rural villages in the Yoro region of Honduras and the Honduran national coffee board to help the villagers build a 30,000-plant coffee plantation.

Calvano has worked as an intern for United States Senator Robert P. Casey Jr. and participated in an externship with Medco Health Solutions, Inc. He is the assistant coordinator and public relations coordinator for Lafayette’s St. Baldrick’s Day event fundraiser, which has generated over $4,000 in donations for childhood cancer research. He is also working on an independent study in economics.

The Academic All-Patriot League Team was voted upon by the league’s men’s soccer sports information directors. Eligible student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better while contributing as a starter or key reserve.
