Meghan Cicchi ’11

From the College’s fall sports teams, 101 students were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the honor roll, student athletes need to record at least a 3.20 grade point average during the semester.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams combined for 22 students named to the honor roll. Sam Brinton ’14 (Fairfax, Va.), a civil engineering major; Lauren Holck ’11 (Newtown, Pa.), a double major in English and Spanish; and Rose Willey ’14 (Brookfield, Conn.), a mathematics-economics major, led the way with 4.0 GPAs.

Field hockey placed 11 members on the honor roll. Midfielder Emily Valeo ’13 (Norristown, Pa.) led the team with a 3.95 GPA. Meghan Cicchi ’11 (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), a chemistry major, and Cara Lyons ’11 (New Holland, Pa.), a civil engineering major, both earned 3.6 GPAs and have been on the honor roll for four consecutive years. Cicchi was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and was also unanimously picked to the All-Patriot League First Team. Lyons was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.

The football program had 34 students earn a place on the honor roll. Brian Hall ’11 (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.), a mathematics-economics major, had the highest GPA on the team with a 4.0. Economics majors Brandon Ellis ’12 (Jeffersonville, Pa.), Doug Gerowski ’11 (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.), Nick Nardone ’11 (Ellwood City, Pa.), and Ryan O’Neil ’12 (White Plains, N.Y.) were named to the academic honor roll and the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League Football Team. Ellis also garnered ESPN Academic All-District II honors in November.

Thirteen members of the men’s soccer team earned slots on the honor roll. Ben Drake ’14 (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.), an electrical and computer engineering major; Blake Fink ’13 (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.), a government and law major, and Zach Winthrop ’13 (Philadelphia, Pa.), a biology major, led the team with 3.85 GPAs. Stephen Macurdy ’11 (Lumberton, N.J.), an economics and policy studies double major, earned his third honor roll selection with a 3.5 GPA.

Men’s soccer earned a Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and also received recognition as the team’s collective grade-point average of 3.38 ranked among the 10 best in Division I.

The women’s soccer team boasted 17 student athletes on the honor roll. Meredith McCann ’12 (Hingham, Mass.), a policy studies major, and Gina Milone ’12 (Massapequa, N.Y.), a biology major, led the team with 4.0 GPAs.

Four members of the volleyball team have been named to the honor roll. Molly Belcher ’14 (Gahanna, Ohio), an Asian studies major, earned a 3.32 GPA; Karissa Ciliento ’14 (Mahwah, N.J.), earned a 3.25 GPA; Morgan Loeffler ’14 (Trinity, N.C.), earned a 3.57 GPA; and Gina Morrone ’14 (Orefield, Pa.), a film and media studies major, earned a 3.32 GPA.
