Edward W. Ahart '69
Edward W. Ahart ’69 was recently elected to the board of trustees of the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation of Morristown, N.J. A highly regarded lawyer and civic leader, he is chair of Lafayette’s board of trustees and has been a longstanding friend and adviser to the foundation.
The Rippel Foundation engages leaders in and outside the health care sector who take a systems-based approach to re-design and works with them to explore and implement innovative initiatives in order to improve health outcomes for all Americans. Their goal is to achieve better health, better care, and lower costs.
Ahart, chairman of the law firm Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP, of Florham Park, N.J., previously served as managing partner and head of the firm’s management committee for nearly 20 years. He is an expert on business and organizational governance and structure, as well as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, finance, and business contracts.
Ahart has been recognized by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of New Jersey’s “Super Lawyers.”
After graduating with honors from Lafayette, Ahart attended Cornell Law School, receiving his law degree in 1972. Prior to joining Schenck, Price, Smith & King in 1973, he served as law secretary to the Honorable Joseph Halpern, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. He is admitted to the bar in both New Jersey and New York.
