Lafayette celebrated Black History Month throughout February with poetry, food, music, discussions, performances, and a fashion show.

Black History Month Finale and Fashion Show

Through the theme of “Beats, Rhymes, & Life,” the month’s events explored the past, present, and future of black artistry. The celebration’s keynote performance was Brooklyn-based poet and spoken word artist Brook Yung.

The month’s events were coordinated by the Office of Intercultural Development and were sponsored by the Africana studies program, the Association of Black Collegians, the Office of Religious Life, and the Williams Center for the Arts.
