Retiring Trustees Jeffrey Feather ’65 and Michael Moskow ’59 Elected to Emeritus Status

Retiring trustees Jeffrey P. Feather ’65 and Michael H. Moskow ’59 have been elected to emeritus status and will be recognized at the 176th Commencement on May 21.

Jeff Feather '65

Feather has served 15 years as a member of the Board of Trustees. He was an alumni trustee from 1995 to 2000 and became a term trustee in 2001. As chair of the Committee on Development and Alumni Affairs from 2002 to 2008, he was also a member of the Executive Committee. He previously served as vice chair of that committee from 1996 to 2002 and currently serves on the Committee on External Affairs. He also has served as a member of the Easton Committee, the Committee on Educational Policy, and the Ad Hoc Committee on Psychology.

Vice chair of the Lafayette Leadership Capital Campaign steering committee from 1996 to 2001, Feather led the Lehigh Valley campaign. He has also served on the Alumni Council Executive Committee. He and his wife, Grace Kathryn Feather, were inducted into the College’s Société d’Honneur in 2005, and are sustaining members of the Marquis Society. They have established two scholarships: the Jeffrey P. and G.

Kathryn Feather Scholarship Fund, which assists students who graduated from their own high schools—Whitehall and Emmaus, and the J.P. ’65 and G.K. Feather Financial Aid Fund for student-athletes. Most recently, they made possible the renovation of Fretz House, renamed Feather House, as the new home for the College’s Communications Division.

A prominent local business leader, Feather received the Alumni Association’s George Washington Kidd, Class of 1836, Award in recognition of his achievements as chairman and co-founder of SunGard Pentamation, of Bethlehem, Pa. He founded the company as Pentamation Enterprises, Inc. in 1970. Feather worked for IBM Corporation from 1965 to 1969.

The recipient of a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering, Feather is vice chair of the board, National Penn Bancshares, Inc. He is a member of the board and previous chair of KNBT Bancorp, Inc. He is also chair of the board of Lehigh Valley Industrial Park, member of the board and chair of the audit committee of Lehigh Valley Hospital, and serves on the boards of Saucon Valley Country Club and Lehigh Valley Partnership.

Michael Moskow '59

Moskow has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1996. He has been a member of the Committee on Financial Policy since 2001 and previously served on the Committee on Educational Policy. He was a member of the search committee whose efforts culminated in the election of Daniel H. Weiss as Lafayette’s 16th president.

Chair of the Chicago regional campaign during the 1996- 2001 Lafayette Leadership Campaign, Moskow has also been a strong supporter of Career Services providing many externship and internship opportunities for students. He has established the Michael H. Moskow ’59 Scholarship, and is a member of the Marquis Circle and Fleck Consistent Giving Society. His ties to Lafayette also include an alumna daughter, Lisa Kimelman ’96.

Vice chairman and senior fellow on the global economy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Moskow was the eighth president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from 1994 to 2007. In recognition of his contributions to federal monetary policy, the College awarded him an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree in 2007. In addition, he received the George Washington Kidd, Class of 1836, Award, presented to alumni who have achieved distinction in their professions.

Moskow began his career teaching economics, labor relations, and management at Temple University, Lafayette, and Drexel University. From 1969 to 1977, he held a number of senior positions with the United States government, including under secretary of labor at the U.S. Department of Labor. In 1991, President George Bush appointed him Deputy U.S. Trade Representative with the rank of ambassador.

Moskow serves as a director of Northwestern Memorial Foundation, World Business Chicago, and the Chicago Workforce Investment Council. He is board member and former chairman of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a member of the Commercial Club of Chicago, a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and former chairman of the Economic Club of Chicago. Moskow holds a doctorate in business and applied economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor of arts in economics from Lafayette.
