Michael Thompson '12 earned a 4.0 GPA this past semester.

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association honored the Lafayette men’s and women’s track and field teams for earning a cumulative grade-point average above 3.0 through the spring 2011 semester.

“I’m extremely proud of both our teams being honored for their outstanding work in the classroom,” says head coach Julio Piazza. “They work tirelessly on their academics and in competition. This past season the men’s 4×100 relay team and three individuals won Patriot League Championships. We also had one All-East athlete and four women break school records.”

One of four Patriot League men’s teams selected, the Leopards had a 3.20 overall GPA, good for second in the league. The women’s team posted a 3.40 team GPA, placing them in a tie for 27th nationally among Division I schools, and a tie for first in the Patriot League with Bucknell.
