We are pleased to provide the Lafayette community with an update on the College’s search for its 17th president.

During the past two months, members of the Presidential Search Committee have been traveling around the country hosting forums with alumni, parents, and friends to discern the opportunities and challenges facing our next president. The committee has also solicited opinions on those qualifications and important characteristics that a successful candidate should possess. In addition to conducting forums in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington D.C., the Lehigh Valley, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, committee members have also hosted on-campus forums with faculty, students, administrators, and staff. These conversations have been very helpful to our process and the committee wishes to thank all of those individuals who participated in on-campus meetings, as well as those who attended sessions outside Easton.

We also want to remind everyone that you may continue to share your views with the search committee via the survey on the presidential website, as we continue to monitor your search-related suggestions through this mechanism.

The position of Lafayette College president has been advertised extensively in various higher education publications and our search consultants have been actively soliciting applications from a wide range of highly talented candidates. The firm reports that Lafayette is very highly respected and anticipates that the quality of our final candidate pool will reflect this.

The search committee is following closely the schedule it established in early July, and now enters the process of carefully evaluating applications and preparing for personal interviews later during the fall semester, with the goal of making a final recommendation to the Board of Trustees at the conclusion of this semester or near the beginning of the spring semester. While we recognize this is an ambitious schedule, we are pleased to report that we are making sound progress toward accomplishing this goal.

Should you have any logistical questions regarding the search process, please do not hesitate to contact James F. Krivoski, administrative secretary to the Board of Trustees and secretary to the Presidential Search Committee, at krivoskj@lafayette.edu.

Thank you for your interest in the presidential search. We will keep our community updated on the search process as it moves forward.

Please report the survey/forum results, i.e. how have they affected the process?
