More students have been enjoying Lafayette’s nightclub, The Spot, thanks to a wide variety of programming including DJ dance parties, concerts, formals, sports parties, relaxation sessions, movie and game nights, and comedy nights. Located on Third Street across from the Williams Visual Arts Building, The Spot gives students a place to socialize and try different programs without leaving campus.

Attendance has ranged from 50 for small live music performances to nearly 300 for larger events such as the three sponsored by Association of Black Collegians in the fall semester. Other groups hosting events so far this school year include Lafayette Activities Forum, Brothers of Lafayette, WJRH, Lafayette African and Caribbean Students Association, International Student Association, Questioning Established Sexual Taboos, Hispanic Society of Lafayette, and Delta Delta Delta sorority.

  1. Paul J. McLoughlin II, Ph.D. says:

Great work to Student Life Programs in offering great opportunities to build connections and community at Lafayette! Attendance is up by more than 50% each weekend this year (over 100 students per night!) I’m reminded of Viscott’s quote, “To fail is a natural consequence of trying; To succeed takes time and prolonged effort in the face of unfriendly odds.”
