Mark Ross ’14 (Aliquippa, Pa.) and Brad Bormann ’14 (Flemington, N.J.) have been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division I Football Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

They were eligible for the honor after garnering Capital One Academic All-District II Team honors last month. Honorees must be a starter or key reserve on their squads while maintaining a minimum of a 3.30 GPA.

An economics major with a 3.63 cumulative GPA, Ross also received Capital One Academic All-District II honors last season and is a three-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree.

Ross, the Patriot League Football Scholar Athlete of the Year, holds every career receiving mark at Lafayette, finishing his career with 198 receptions for 2,811 yards and 27 touchdowns. He is the only wideout in program history to post consecutive 1000-yard seasons and has 14 career games with 100 or more receiving yards. Ross completed his senior campaign with 74 catches for 1,078 yards and eight touchdowns.

Bormann, a biology major, maintains a 3.8 GPA and serves as a peer mentor in the College’s Academic Tutoring and Training Information Center and is a supplemental instructor for Biology 101. He also works as a volunteer at the Easton Senior Center and participates in the Adopt-A-Grandparent program. Bormann is slated to participate in the Teach for America program after graduation in May.

In addition to the All-District honors, Bormann earned Academic All-Patriot League Academic status for the second straight season.

The three-year starter played in 36 career games at offensive guard and served as a team captain in 2013.

Lafayette captured the 2013 Patriot League title and advanced to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs.
