At the Alumni Association annual meeting June 6 during Reunion Weekend, Lisa Kassel ’79 was named president-elect, succeeding Alex Karapetian ’04, whose term as president of the Alumni Association begins July 1.

Karapetian, director of sales and marketing for Acopian Power Supplies, has driven new customer acquisition to a 40 percent increase as well as developing and implementing a web-based marketing strategy. He serves on the board of Acopian Center for the Environment and is a trustee of the Armenian Assembly of America.

A government and law graduate, Karapetian has just completed two years as president-elect of the association. He was co-chair of the Young Alumni Committee from 2008 to 2011 and has been chair since 2011. He co-founded the Wine 3/9 Event, which celebrates the founding of Lafayette, and spearheaded the establishment of the 2004 Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity Scholarship in 2012.

A Marquis Society member, he is a third-generation Lafayette legacy, joining his great uncle, the late Sarkis Acopian ’51, uncles Greg Acopian ’70 and Jeff Acopian ’75, and cousin Ezra Acopian ’03.

Kassel, a fundraising consultant in New York City, serves as capital campaign manager and liaison to the marketing committee for Trevor Day School. She was executive director of MS Hope for a Cure from 2009 to 2012. A government and law graduate, she holds a master’s in public administration from Baruch College.

A member of Alumni Council and chair of the Alumni Admissions Representatives Committee since 2010, she has been an Annual Fund class agent since 2009. Kassel co-chaired New York City’s Wine 3/9 events the past two years and was a member of Marquis Parents Council from 2009 to 2013. She has hosted admissions events in New York for several years.

She is married to Mitchell Winter ’79, and their daughter is Rebecca Winter ’13.
