Alison Byerly emailed the following message to the campus community today.

I am pleased to announce that Michael Kiser has been appointed Vice President for Marketing and Communications, effective September 1.

Michael has served as Vice President for Communications at Colby College since 2011.  Prior to that, he was Director of Development Communications at Virginia Tech, where he served as the chief communications officer for a $1 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign. I am confident that Michael’s experience will greatly enhance our efforts to communicate the College’s distinctive strengths to a wide range of audiences, and I look forward to having him join the College’s senior leadership team. More information about him is available in the College’s public announcement:  http://www.lafayette.edu/about/?p=41411.

I would like to thank Bob Massa for his outstanding service to the College during his five years as Vice President for Communications. As previously announced, Bob is joining the Development Office as Deputy Vice President for the Campaign.  I look forward to working with him in his new role.

I would also like to thank the members of the search committee: Roger Clow, Jennifer Kelly, Barbara Levy, Jud Linville, Greg MacDonald, Ken Newquist, Kim Spang, and Jim Krivoski.  I am very grateful to Mark Crain for serving as Chair of the committee, and to all committee members for their energy and enthusiasm.

Michael, his wife, Helene, and his family look forward to joining the Lafayette community soon.  I know that you all will join me in helping them to feel welcome.
