President Alison Byerly emailed the following message to the campus community today.

I am delighted to announce that Kim Spang, Associate Vice President for Development and currently Acting Vice President for Development and College Relations, has been appointed Vice President for Development and College Relations, following a national search initiated in April.

Kim Spang joined Lafayette in 2003, and has served as Acting Vice President for Development and College Relations since April of this year, following four years as Associate Vice President. In these and previous roles, Kim has served with dedication and established a record of success that prepared her well for the new duties she assumed last spring.

I am delighted that I will have the opportunity to continue to work with Kim in her new role, and am excited about the leadership she will bring to the Capital Campaign. I know that she will do an excellent job of helping alumni and friends of the college understand why this campaign is critical to Lafayette’s future, and that she will be an effective advocate for the ambitious goals we have set for ourselves.

I would like to thank the members of the search committee: Matt Hyde, Alex Karapetian, Doug Marvin, J.B. Reilly, Wendy Wilson-Fall, and Jim Krivoski. I learned a great deal myself from the search process, and from hearing faculty, administrators, and trustees express their hopes for how we can best engage the broader Lafayette community in our vision for the future. I am especially grateful to Leslie Muhlfelder for serving as Chair of the committee. Please join me in congratulating Kim, and thanking her for her service to the College, as she assumes her new leadership role.

Alison R. Byerly, President
