President Alison Byerly emailed the following message to the campus community this morning.

I am terribly saddened to share the news of the passing of McCrae Williams, a student in the Class of 2021. McCrae, a lacrosse player from Weston, Mass., was 19 years old.

McCrae was transported from campus to Easton Hospital by ambulance Sunday afternoon for a medical emergency and later moved to Lehigh Valley Hospital, where he died late Monday.  His parents were with him.

We extend our deepest sympathies to McCrae’s family and friends. We will share information about memorial plans when it becomes available.

A gathering will be held this evening at 7:30 p.m. on the Quad. Counselors will be available at the gathering, and the Counseling Center is open until 7:15 p.m. with after-hours crisis support available 24/7 by calling 610-330-5005.

Losing a member of the Class of 2021 is a heartbreaking start to the year for our newest students in particular.  I hope that the support of the community will be helpful to all at this very sad time.

President Alison Byerly
