President Byerly’s email to campus today noted that law enforcement officials have advised us that we may return to normal operations. While we are relieved that the threat to campus was not found to be credible, the emotional and practical impact of the event was quite real. We understand that preparations for final exams and other coursework have been disrupted, and we recognize that students may need some additional time.

As a result, all of the final exams scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, May 7, will be shifted to Sunday, May 13. The exams rescheduled from Monday will be held at the same time and in the same location they were originally scheduled.

We have also recommended to faculty that they grant a 24-hour extension for any coursework that may be due tomorrow. Please consult your faculty member with any questions about submitting or completing your coursework.

All other final exams (Tuesday through Saturday) will be held as planned.

We recognize that this may create some challenges for travel plans. If there are difficulties in this regard, please contact the Dean of Advising and Co-Curricular Programs, Erica D’Agostino (deanofadvising@lafayette.edu, 610-330-5080).

College housing for non-seniors is open through Monday, May 14. Students who need to stay beyond that date may do so by submitting an extend-stay request through the regular process.

Thanks for your flexibility as we work together to bring this semester’s academic work to a successful conclusion.
