Moderator Monika Rice, assistant professor of Jewish studies and Russian and East European studies at Lafayette, will discuss with Horn why she wrote the nonfiction book of essays, which explores how Jewish history has been exploited to comfort the living, and the provocative nature of the topic as the title itself reveals.

Her book won the 2021 National Jewish Book Award for Contemporary Jewish Life and was a finalist for the 2021 Kirkus Prize in Nonfiction. Horn will sign copies following the event.

Her appearance at Lafayette is sponsored by the Jewish Studies Program, Rothkopf Fund (Hillel Society), Lyman Coleman Fund (Religious Studies Department), Languages and Literatures Department, Lafayette Humanities Center, Lafayette Libraries, the Provost’s Office, and the Berman Center for Jewish Studies at Lehigh University.
