Prof. John Kincaid was quoted in a news report by WFMZ-Channel 69 News about Wednesday’s U.S. Supreme Court extension of a temporary block on access to the abortion pill mifepristone.

The high court had set a deadline of Wednesday (4/19) but Justice Samuel Alito on Wednesday extended that by two days as the justices consider a lower court ruling on access to the pill and a legal challenge by anti-abortion groups.

“I suspect the judges are negotiating with each other, trying to make a decision,” Kincaid, Robert B. and Helen S. Meyner Professor of Government and Public Service and director of the Meyner Center for the Study of State and Local Government, told the news station in its April 19 report. “So, there must be some dissension on the court that’s led the court to kick the can down the road till Friday.”
