Celebrating Volunteers

The Alumni Association held its annual Volunteer Awards Sept. 30 to recognize volunteers for their time and philanthropic support to the College. Lafayette volunteers demonstrate their commitment by generously serving in a number of volunteer roles as alumni admissions ambassadors, class correspondents, internship and externship hosts, and more. Last fiscal year, more than 3,000 volunteers, including alumni, parents, staff, and friends, devoted their time and resources to help the College.
Alumni Association Board President Michael Weisburger ’82 was one of several individuals who presented awards at the event. Weisburger spoke about the power of the Lafayette network and how it influenced his first job after graduating, which actually came to fruition through a lead from the head of campus security.
“Classmate John Ventura ’82 and I landed our first job through a Lafayette connection,” explained Weisburger at the event. “We drove a Dodge Travco RV with a Chevy Nova in tow for 11 months, giving industrial hearing tests all over the United States. It was a great experience with a great friend. It is really a tribute to our networks at Lafayette, which include both alumni and staff.”
