Firefighter was working in an area of Oregon known for its anti-government stance, Kincaid tells paper
Prof. John Kincaid was quoted in a March 22 Washington Post article about a U.S. Forest Service firefighter who entered an anti-government area of Oregon and was arrested after leading a control burn to prevent forest fires.
The region of eastern Oregon where the firefighter was arrested and encountered anti-government reactions has a long history of tensions with Washington, D.C., and once tried to prevent the federal government from managing its own lands there, Kincaid, Robert B. and Helen S. Meyner Professor of Government and Public Service, told the paper.
