What I study and why: My area of study is development and implementation of robust controllers and optimal/intelligent controllers for uncertain physical systems and application-oriented electronically printed sensors. I have developed robust controllers on practical facility-level power systems, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) electrostatic actuators, and interdisciplinary systems like pneumatic actuators and soft actuators.

This fall, I am teaching: ES 201: Systems II Lecture and Lab

What students can expect from me: My goal as an educator is to develop and shape a strong society by sharing knowledge with students and learning from them as well. I strive to leave a positive impact on students’ lives. I strongly believe that understanding fundamental concepts is key to student success. As a teacher, I make sure students understand the fundamentals and train them to apply these fundamentals to advanced concepts as well as encourage them to think independently, identify engineering problems, and solve them innovatively and efficiently. I incorporate a mix of assignments (writing, labs, exams, and projects), as a good mix of evaluations helps students to be successful and help them to develop their weak areas, and they will also learn the concepts via different methods. I will make every effort to foster an inclusive and safe environment in class where students are encouraged to ask questions, initiate discussions, or express their opinions. I develop their critical thinking. It is important for students to know why they need to learn particular concepts and how they are related to real-world examples, as well as how they will help them in their future career as an engineer.

Getting to know me: I’m a third-generation teacher in my family. When I was young, I witnessed the positive influence both my mother and grandfather had on their students. Hearing their students’ achievements firsthand inspired me to be an educator.
