My research focuses on: Brazilian contemporary art and architecture
This fall, I am teaching: ART 234: Modern Art and ART 126: History of Architecture
What students can expect from me: A broad approach to global art and architecture that centers the intersection of social, political, economic, and environmental issues. I am planning to introduce courses on Contemporary Art, Latin American art and architecture, and Visual Culture. The Visual Culture courses in particular include a variety of popular culture topics from Bridgerton to Sandman, Dune to the Marvel universe, C-dramas to K-pop, MTG to Pokémon cards, anime, manga comics and animations, fashion magazines, social media and alternative presses, souvenirs and postcards from across the globe, and much more. Courses on Latin America explore the history, art, and culture of the region’s countries from Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, as well as the diaspora across the world. I am looking forward to teaching at Lafayette, meeting students, and engaging the community in conversations about art and our visual world.
Getting to know me: I am Brazilian, but I have lived in France, England, Italy, and Australia before coming to the U.S. for my graduate studies.
