Celebrating Lafayette’s Bicentennial Across America: Evanston, Ill.

The Lafayette community came together in support of the field hockey program while celebrating alumni commitment to support field hockey and neuroscience as part of “Students, Faculty, and the Power of &” Bicentennial event series.

Lafayette alumni and friends celebrated the power of “and” at a Bicentennial event in the Chicago metropolitan area surrounding the field hockey team’s opening weekend

The swing of Bicentennial regional events continued to crisscross the country, stopping in Evanston, Ill., Aug. 28. The Lafayette community gathered to cheer on the field hockey team, watching as the Leopards captured a season-opening win over Kent State before taking two-time defending national Northwestern down to the wire.

This event was the fourth in the series “Students, Faculty, and the Power of And.” Hosted on the Northwestern University campus, the program featured Lafayette College President Nicole Hurd, Rappolt Professor of Neuroscience Lisa Gabel, and Bill Rappolt ’67. Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman and Dean of Admissions Krista Evans also spoke at the event.

“During the College’s Bicentennial celebration, we have had opportunities to share our story across the country. This event came in the midst of our field hockey team’s opening weekend and provided our alumni, parents, and friends a chance to celebrate 200 years and hear about the exciting initiatives at the College,” President Hurd explained. “I am so grateful we were able to shine a light on the unique legacy of support from Bill and Pam Rappolt and the power of both our neuroscience program and our field hockey team.”
