In her third appearance on NPR’s Marketplace this year, Julie Smith, professor of economics, shared her views on how inflation rates may change with the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package approved by Congress.

About four minutes into the March 10 program about how the package will make its way through the economy, Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal asked Smith for some context about inflation at the consumer level. Smith said that inflation is well contained in the U.S. economy and that she expects most increases to be temporary.
