Why did you choose Lafayette?
Ironically, I initially refused to look at Lafayette because both my parents are alumni and I wanted to do something different.  After a weekend recruiting trip, I knew that Lafayette was a perfect fit for me.  As swimmers, we are fortunate to have a coach that truly wants us to succeed athletically, socially, and academically.  Lafayette has allowed me to get involved in things that three years ago, I never even knew existed.

What do you enjoy about your major?
I have had some stand-out professors in the economics department that have definitely helped me to succeed.  I have also thoroughly enjoyed many of my policy studies classes that are more interdisciplinary and allow for hands-on learning.

One class that every Lafayette student should try to take is…
Public Speaking.  Anyone is able to take the class regardless of major and class year.  It was not only an entertaining class, but also an opportunity to learn an invaluable life skill.

What was your most unique academic experience at Lafayette?
My First-Year Seminar was called “In the Media” with Professor Nicole Crain.  For one project, we made promo videos in groups for new shows on USA Network.  After we completed the project, we watched the videos as a class and one of the directors for USA judged them.  With predominantly economics classes on my schedule since then, it was definitely a unique experience.

How would you define your role on the team?
The importance of working hard in the pool is something that I was taught at a young age.  I try to leave everything that I have in the water every time I swim.  I also love to cheer on my teammates during practice and meets.  Sometimes all it takes to get through a tough set during practice is words of reassurance.

What goals has the team set for 2013 and how does it plan on achieving those goals?
Swimming is very different from most other sports because it is both an individual and team sport.  The team this year has really come together with great camaraderie and support for each other’s hard work.  Everyone has goals for Patriot League championships at the end of February and after a challenging training season; I look forward to seeing everyone succeed.

What reality show could you see yourself being part of?
Although I am embarrassed to say that I watch almost every reality show on TLC, I probably would not be part of any of them.  As a child, I would have loved to be on Legends of the Hidden Temple but now I see myself competing in Wipeout on ABC.

What song/band/album is most likely to be playing on your iPod?
It definitely depends on where I am listening to music.  During lifting, the girl’s team loves listening to any pop/upbeat music.  Studying or hanging out, I prefer John Mayer, Train, and the Goo Goo Dolls.

What movie can you quote word-for-word?
Without a doubt, Mean Girls.

Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
I am sad to say that it is probably Bam Margera.  He lives in my town and we see him around a lot.
