Brandon Ellis ’12 (Jeffersonville, Pa.) has earned placement on the Capital One Academic All-District II Football Team.

A three-year starter in the defensive backfield, Ellis has been honored for the second straight season and was named to the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League Team in 2010. He leads Lafayette with 11 pass breakups and is fifth on the football team with 59 tackles.

An economics major, Ellis maintains a 3.49 grade-point average and boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring semester.

Ellis serves as a peer mentor in the College’s Academic Tutoring and Training Information Center and as a Gateway ambassador for Career Services. In 2010, his learning experiences took him outside the classroom in a summer internship with Johnson & Johnson.

Academic All-District selections must have reached their sophomore year academically while maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30. They must also be a starter or key reserve on their team. District winners will be placed on a national ballot and the Capital One Academic All-America Team will be announced Thursday, Dec. 8.

Lafayette ends its season Saturday against Lehigh in the 147th meeting of college’s football’s most-played rivalry.

  1. EDWARD A. ROEDER says:

I graduated from Lafayette in 1961 with a B.S. in Physics and have been teaching physics at Moravian College for 44 years. My father, Dr. Fred V. Roeder, was then the Head, and only member, of the Education Department. I found it interesting in reading the piece you did yesterday on Gerald Paist (’61) that he mentioned “the one-professor education department at Lafayette”. That was my father. How pleased would he be to know how well one of his former students has done!
