Cadence, Lafayette’s female a cappella group, will give a free concert 6 p.m. Sunday at Colton Chapel.

“This is the last concert of the semester and the last concert for our senior Cadence members,” says group president Toni Ahrens ’05 (Hamilton, N.Y.), a double major in psychology and English with a theater concentration, as well as winner of the inaugural Lafayette Idol competition. “We are losing five talented women this year and they will be truly missed.”

“We have learned a lot of new music this semester because we really wanted to debut new songs at every concert we had,” she adds. “On Sunday we will debut two more new songs: ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’ and ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.’ We will also be singing old favorites such as ‘Listen to the Music,’ ‘Proud Mary,’ and ‘Drift Away.'”

In addition to Ahrens, Cadence is comprised of:

  • Sylvia Anserian ’04 (River Edge, N.J.), an anthropology and sociology major;
  • Jill Bisplinghoff ’07 (North Hampton, N.H.);
  • Megan Conway ’06 (North Caldwell, N.J.), an art major;
  • Lauren Duffy ’07 (Monkton, Md.);
  • Kim Enoch ’04(Hatboro, Pa.), a double major in English and American studies;
  • Amanda Finkelstein ’07 (Syosset, N.Y.);
  • Alyson Gross ’04 (Killingworth, Conn.), a double major in international affairs and German;
  • Kaytlin Henry ’07 (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.);
  • Megan Kunkelman ’07 (Narvon, Pa.);

Cadence is selling its latest CD, Beyond Your Front Door. The group’s recent concerts have included an evening with Quintessence in March. Last year, it became the first Lafayette group to advance beyond the quarterfinals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella.
