Gilbert Kalish

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center performs 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov.10, at Williams Center for the Arts.

The concert is the second performance in this year’s Chamber Music series, featuring two of New York’s most masterful pianists, Gilbert Kalish and Wu Han. The duo bring career-long passion for chamber music to two landmark works for the modern keyboard—Béla Bartok’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion (1937) and George Crumb’s Music for a Summer Evening (Makrokosmos III,1974).

The folkloric elements and pictorial richness of Bartok’s music contrast with the American flair of Crumb’s musical language-bold, authoritative, and charged with energy. Both works include theatrical percussion performed by Daniel Druckman and Ayano Kataoka.
