Hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and alumni helped community organizations in Easton and cities across the country in April during Lafapalooza ’13: Lafayette’s National Day of Service.

Students in the Easton Community

On April 27, students volunteered for projects benefiting Easton Area Neighborhood Center, Easton Health and Rehabilitation Center, Easton Main Street Initiative, Safe Harbor shelter, West Ward Neighborhood Partnership, and ProJeCt of Easton. These were organized by the College’s Landis Community Outreach Center.

Projects included indoor and outdoor clean-ups, painting, gardening, and other activities to help local nonprofits.

In addition to the projects in Easton, 10 regional alumni chapters coordinated volunteer activities throughout the months of April and May in Washington, D.C.; Denver, Colo.; Roxbury, Mass.; Seattle, Wash.; Philadelphia; New Jersey; New York City; and the Lehigh Valley.

Alumni Serve Their Communities

The Landis Center hosts dozens of programs and organizations dedicated to helping local, national, and international communities. Volunteer opportunities include Alternative School Break Club, Hunger and Homelessness Week, America Reads America Counts, Make a Difference Day, Best Buddies, Literacy Day, Kids in the Community, and many others.
